Add Google Tag Manager to your website and Share with Us
Here's the instruction on how to add Google Tag Manager to your website:
- With the main Google account, your company uses (the same one you set up google.com/anlaytics with), visit https://www.google.com/analytics/tag-manager/get-started/ and go through the signup process. The "get started" page will guide you, but you simply need to (1) create an account for your company (2) and create a "container" for your www.website.com as a "web container".
- This will then give you a "container" code. Place that on all pages of your website per the "get started" instructions at https://support.google.com/tagmanager/answer/6103696?hl=en- if this confuses you, we can discuss on the call. Please still do step #3 below though for now.
- Using instructions at https://support.google.com/tagmanager/answer/6107011?hl=en, please add admin@helpflow.net as a "User" on your account along with "Publish" container permissions. We need both of these to create versions, workspaces, make edits, and publish.
Install GTM on Shopify
You can install your tag manager code on the Shopify store using these instructions.
- Instructions to add Google Tag Manager code to your theme are at https://help.shopify.com/manual/reports-and-analytics/google-analytics/google-tag-manager
- If your store is on Shopify Plus, you'll need to add the Google Tag Manager code snippets to your
checkout.liquidtheme files as well. - If your store is NOT on Shopify Plus, this code needs to be added only in the
themes.liquidfile after the opening <body>.
